GPOYW Year-End Edition This is definitely my favorite photo of 2011. The dude directly in front of me didn’t speak English, nor did his two sons. Throughout the ride, those two kids kept leaning out of the log, scooping up the Splash Mountain water with their hands, and drinking it. The ride operator, watching us on the monitor, kept coming over the PA screaming, “STOP DRINKING THE WATER!!!” But they didn’t speak English. I tried to explain in broken Spanish, “No bebe agua de Splash Montaña!” But the dad just kept laughing. He thought it was funny that his kids were gulping down the river water on Splash Mountain. It probably wasn’t funny when those kids got dysentery. Also in this photo, but not seen, is Melissa’s 4-year-old nephew. We were afraid he was going to fly out of the log, so he’s in the back row on the floor. So we weren’t the greatest guardians of kids, either.
